Comunidades Latinas Unidas En Servicio (CLUES)
elected Dr. Carmen Coballes-Vega, Dean of College of
Professional Studies and Professor of Education at Metropolitan
State University, to its Board of Directors. Carmen’s expertise
will serve in several key areas of support to the organization
such as educational programming, human resource management, and
resource management. Her knowledge and experience will support
the continual refinement of policies and practices to assist
CLUES in its long-range development to serve Latino
communities.
Carmen is the
Dean of College of Professional Studies and Professor of
Education at Metropolitan State University since 2003, and has
many years of past experience working in administration and
leadership roles with several universities prior to her work
with MSU. Carmen has served on the Board of Directors of the
American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, the Unit
Accreditation Board of the National Council for the
Accreditation of Teacher Education, the Girl Scouts of St. Croix
Valley, and on the National Board of the YWCA of the U.S.A. She
has also published many works in the areas of education and
diversity.
Carmen joins
the following members of CLUES Board of Directors: Dr. “Rusty”
Barceló, Steve Brady, Michael Rodríguez Goodson, John Herron,
Elena Izaksonas, Patrick Kelly, Diego Osuna, Tony Rodriguez, Luz
Maria Serrano and Dave Spalding.
CLUES provides
language appropriate and culturally competent behavioral health
and human services, and is proudly in its 27th year
of service to the community. The agency was ranked among the top
25 nonprofits in the United States by Hispanic Business
Magazine for 2007. CLUES provides the following programs:
Mental Health Services, Chemical Health Services, Family Health
Services, Aging Well Services, Employment Services, Latino
Learning Institute Educational Services, and Community Health
Worker Services.
