Volunteer
Recognition
In
2005, CLUES’s Latino Learning Institute had over 547 volunteer
tutors provide 7,703 hours of instruction to 2,455 adult learners. Without the dedication and hard work of our many volunteer
tutors, the Latino Learning Institute would not be able to help
Minnesota’s Latino community improve their basic education through
becoming proficient in English, learning basic computer skills,
studying for the high school equivalency diploma, and developing
literacy skills in their native language. CLUES would like to express their deep appreciation and
endless gratitude to the many volunteers that truly help us “to
enhance the quality of life of the Latino community in
Minnesota.”
Volunteers
join us from all walks of life and parts of the community as
business professionals, retirees, students, and neighbors. Among many others, we have had volunteers from the Career
and Community Learning Center at the University of Minnesota, St.
Thomas University, Inver Hills Community College, Bethel College,
Project SHINE housed at Metropolitan State University and
Minneapolis Community Technical College, Century College, Hamline
University, American Express, General Mills, Unisys, and Medtronic.
Each
month, CLUES will recognize two volunteer tutors, one from St. Paul
and one from Minneapolis. Our “Latino Learning Institute Volunteers of the Month” have
made a priceless impact on CLUES and the many clients we serve. Please take a moment to enjoy their stories.
