Employment
services are designed to identify and address a variety of barriers
that prevent the Latino job seeker from obtaining and retaining
meaningful employment. CLUES employment staff also attempts to
tackle some of the tougher challenges facing clients seeking
employment. Poverty, hunger, homelessness, separation from family,
newcomer status, language barriers, and mental and/or chemical
health issues are at times greater barriers to employment and
self-sufficiency.
Referrals
to other CLUES services or to other community services, and support
in accessing those services, is a key component of the employment
plan. Providing further support is the CLUES network of employers
and its “Employer of Choice” Program. These established
relationships with employers allow CLUES to better assist clients
with job placement, retention and post-placement support.
The
Employment Department successfully completed its fifth year as a
Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) provided. MFIP clients
were successful in reaching their employment goals. As a result of
CLUES' role as an MFIP employment service provider, 196 participants
found full-time jobs with benefits making an average wage of $10.63
per hour. |
